ISLE OF WIGHT 2016 - the first Arts Society High Wycombe tour!

Wanting to have additional activities to enhance the newly formed The Arts Society High Wycombe, in April 2016 27 members and friends set off by luxury coach from High Wycombe on our first tour, a 4 day visit to Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight and Winchester.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard occupied us for several hours before taking the ferry across the Solent and checking in to the very comfortable 4* Royal Hotel, Ventnor for 3 nights. Dinner each evening in the hotel's first class restaurant gave us the perfect  opportunity to get to know each other and make new friends. Visits to Dimbola Lodge, Needles Old Battery, Mottistone Manor Gardens, Isle of Wight  Studio Glass Works, Brading Roman Villa  and of course, Osbourne House  and St Mildred's Church, Whippingham, meant there was something for everyone to enjoy. The ferry again blew some cobwebs away, before our return journey via Winchester Cathedral to Laverstoke Mill, to enjoy a hosted experience of Bombay Sapphire's Distillery, be amazed by the stunning Thomas Heatherwick glasshouses and treated to a personalised gin cocktail each. A busy but very rewarding 4 days .
